What we collect, why, and how to get rid of it. We collect very little, and this page lists all of it.

What we collect
If you join the waitlist: your email address, and optionally your name, your company, whether your spaces are homes, commercial or something else, and anything you write in a note. Nothing else, and only what you type into the form.
If you book a demo: your name and email, what kind of spaces you work with, roughly how many you have in mind, and when you want to start — plus, if you choose to give them, a company and a note. Preparing and answering your enquiry is all it is used for.
If you send a volume or enterprise enquiry: your name and email, roughly how many spaces you have in mind, when you want to move, and which of the extras you ticked — plus, if you choose to give them, a company and a note. Same as a demo: it is used to prepare and answer your enquiry, and for nothing else.
If you start a sign-up: your name and email, what you do, what you intend to use it for, roughly how many spaces a month you expect, and — if you choose to give them — a phone number, a company, how you heard about us, and a note. We use them to set up your account and to answer you about it.
Your phone number is optional and we only ask for it in case something about a capture of yours needs a call. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not pass it to anyone.
We do not take payment details on the website today. If that changes, this page changes with it and will name the payment processor before it handles anything of yours.
We no longer ask for a site address, a city, or the size of a space. We used to, when the booking form was shaped around us coming out to film — we do not, you shoot the video yourself, and a form that asked a stranger where their building is was collecting something it had no use for.
If you have a portal account: your email address. There is no password — signing in means asking for a single-use link by email, and the link stops working once it is used or after a short time. Your session is then kept in a cookie named walkd_session so you stay signed in.
If you send us a capture: the video file, and the address and city you enter alongside it.
If the link that brought you here carries a tag (?src=...), the forms send it along. It tells us which link is working — it names where a link was posted, not who you are.
Every request to the site carries your IP address, as it does for every website. We use it to rate-limit the forms — counting recent submissions per address so a script cannot flood them. Those counters live in the server's memory and expire within a day. We do not use it to profile you.
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell data to anyone. Ever.
If you start a booking and don't finish it
The booking survey asks for your email partway through, and the line under that field says what giving it means: we email your demo confirmation to that address, and if you don't finish, we'll follow up once about your spaces — no list, no newsletter, nothing else. This page's job is to keep that promise, so here is the rest of it.
The moment you enter your email, whatever you have answered so far — the kind of spaces you work with, roughly how many, and your name — comes through to us, so a real enquiry is not lost to a closed tab. Nothing automatic is sent to you. If we follow up, it is a person writing once about the spaces you described, and then we stop.
You are not added to any mailing list. How long we keep an unfinished booking is in the retention section below, and if you would rather we forgot the whole thing, ask and we will delete it.
Your capture video, and the location data inside it
Video shot on a phone usually carries hidden metadata, including the exact GPS coordinates of where it was recorded. For a walk-through, that is the location of somebody's home or premises.
Our processing strips all metadata from your capture before anything is stored or published. Nothing we deliver — the walkthrough, or a corrected still taken from it — carries GPS coordinates, a device identifier or a timestamp.
We keep the original file only as long as we need it to produce and support the walkthrough, and we delete it on request.
Contacts you capture at events
Our field capture tool lets you record details of people you meet — name, company, phone, email, where you met them, and a note. Those people are not our users, and we act as a processor for you: the data is yours, we hold it on your behalf, and we do not contact them for our own purposes.
You are responsible for having a lawful basis to record and contact them. If one of them asks us to delete their details, we will, and we will tell you.
When you open an invite link
If someone sends you a walkthrough invite from us, opening it is recorded: the time you opened it, how many times you have opened it, and a short description of the kind of device and browser you used — "iPhone · Safari". We do not keep the full technical string your browser sends, and we do not build a profile from it.
It is recorded so the person who sent it knows their link arrived and is worth following up. Our system turns those opens into a simple ranking — opened once, opened again — that tells them who to call. Nothing about it is automated beyond that ordering, and no decision is made about you by a machine.
The person who sent you the invite is our customer, and the record belongs to them: we hold it on their behalf, and we do not use it to market to you. If you would rather not be counted, or you want the record deleted, tell us or tell them and it goes.
How long we keep these records has not been settled yet. When it is, the period will appear in the retention section below rather than here.
Who else sees it
Resend, our email provider, holds waitlist addresses and delivers every email we send. A booking — finished or not — reaches us as an email, so what you typed into the survey passes through Resend on its way to us.
Amazon Web Services hosts the application and its files.
That is the entire list. We add to it only when a service is necessary to run the product, and this page changes when it does.
How long we keep it
Waitlist entries: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
Bookings, volume enquiries and sign-ups: today all three are recorded as an email to us, and we keep them until you ask us to delete them.
Unfinished bookings: the same kind of note to us, plus a marker in the running server's memory that stops the same address being recorded twice. The marker expires after 30 days — sooner if the site is redeployed, because it does not survive a restart.
Account data: while your account is open, and for a short period afterwards so an account can be restored if it was closed by mistake. Sign-in links are deleted shortly after they expire; they are stored scrambled, so even before that nobody can read one out of our records and use it.
Invite opens: not decided yet. We would rather say so than publish a period we have not agreed. Ask us and we will delete a record of yours in the meantime.
Your capture video and walkthroughs: for as long as your account's subscription stays active, or until you delete them.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Unsubscribe links are in every email we send.
Email brenden@walkd.net and we will action it. Depending on where you live you may also have a right to complain to a data protection regulator.
